The South-East region of Nigeria has launched its own security outfit codenamed EBUBEAGU after a meeting held in Imo State on Saturday 11th April 2021.
In the meeting of Governors of Imo, Anambra, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi state with the Inspector of Police, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Naval and Air force commanders and other stakeholders — they formed their own outfit.
The meeting held days after gunmen attacked the Owerri Custodial Centre, freeing 1,884 inmates. The Imo State Police Command was also attacked by gunmen who set several vehicles ablaze on the same day,
This is coming after a year of the South-West formed its own codenamed AMOTEKUN.
Giving a brief detail on the outcome of the meeting, the Imo State Government revealed on its official Twitter handle that the governors of the South-East have set up a joint security outfit.
“South-East Governors set up the South-East joint security outfit code named EBUBEAGU,” the tweet read.
