Tambuwal Urges Electorates to Vote for PDP Ahead of Sokoto Poll

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has said he is not surprised that the All Progressives Congress will not participate in the local government council election scheduled to hold on March 27, across the state’s 23 local government areas.

Tambuwal, at the inaugural zonal campaign of the People’s Democratic Party for the council poll in the Gwadabawa Local Government Area of the state said, “I am not surprised at the Sokoto APC’s resolution not to participate in the coming council polls because the APC has lost focus as well as confidence of Nigerians for it failed promises.

“They know they have not done anything and have nothing to offer to the state.”

Tambuwal, while calling on party supporters to come out and vote for the candidates of the PDP, described the third tier of government as the closest and most important democratic structure to the people at the grassroots.

“The council poll is key and relevant. You should mobilise yourselves en-masse to vote. Electorates at the grassroots see the council poll as an important aspect and integral part of the democratic process that will give them the opportunity to decide for themselves leaders of their choice.”

Earlier, the state PDP Chairman, Bello Goronyo, presented the party’s flag to the eight chairmanship candidates and announced that 12,000 members of the APC had defected to the party.

The Sokoto East comprises Isa, Rabah, Goronyo, Illela, Gada, Sabon Birni, Wurno and Gwadabawa local government areas.
